DO YOU REMEMBER FREAK NIK

While chatting with the homies about all things wrong with life that we love (unprotected sex, pork, white women, etc.) I began to imagine a place and time were there was no responsibility. I harkened back the 1970’s before AID’s and after birth control. I am an 80’s baby but I can only imagine how much fun it was and how easy it must have been to get gooey in the ripe fur burger of a very willing young lady. You didn’t have to pretend the rubber broke or get her drunk to go raw, you just did it. In fact she might have encouraged you to paint her walls with baby juice and called you soft for tryin to strap up.

After our convo I searched for a time in my life where this type of activity occurred. Where reckless abandon was practiced for the sake of a good time. Without notice I remember a festival like no other. A place and time where daisy dukes and 16” Dayton rims were a real big deal. Actually bucket rims were a cool alternative too. Everyone had on baseball hats but they were the one size fits all joints. Ass smakin, sexual harassment and group sex were the norm. Your trip to this place and time would not be complete without a cheaply printed, mass produced commemorative t-shirt. MMHMM we are talking FREAKNIC!!

Funny thing about Freaknic is that it began as a chill type party in the park hosted by students at 2 of Black Americas most prominent institutions Spellman and Morehouse. By 1996 it ballooned into hell for all white folks in ATL attracting more than 250,000 young, black, horny, and high visitors on the third weekend in July every year.

Seeing that I was too young to go I was relegated to experiencing freaknic through the stories of the local guys at the barbershop. At first I believeD there stories of women suckin dick out of drop top 5.0 mustangs were lies. There is no way in hell women walk around with nothing but high heels and cheap perfume on. These tails of strippers scaling 40 foot pools only to fall into a perfect booty clap/hand stand/split were too good to be tru. That was until I saw the footage!

I don’t care what you came with when you went to Freaknic, but when you came back you had a venereal disease and plenty of footage. It was a perquisite that one person in the crew had a camcorder. Two was preferable in case the primary camerman was off fuckin or passed out. I’ve never heard of a woman carrying a camcorder during this weekend but I wouldn’t be surprised. The videos typically were pretty boring. Nothing more than a bunch of guys wandering the streets zooming in on large booties. This would go on for 15-20 mins then all of a sudden the camera would catch a crowd of people swarming. The cameraman would then hit a slight trot to get into the thick of the fracas only to come upon 20-30 amateur camera men recording some thing crazy. It was always something over the top. Some guy giving a chick a face ride. Some guy fucking some chick on the corner of Peachtree by the Underground.

We Here at “getlikeme” honor everyone that enjoyed this special time in Black American History. We hope that the diseases you earned have cleared up and that they many children concieved out of wedlock one day learn more about their father than “he had a real fly Chevy Suburban and was from Cleveland”
